About Soi Yeonnam

Soi Yeonnam brings a lively slice of Thai street food culture to the heart of Seoul, tucked along 267 Donggyo-ro in Mapo-gu where the neighborhood energy already feels creative and fast-moving. The moment people step into Soi Yeonnam, the atmosphere leans casual and welcoming, making it the kind of Thai restaurant that works equally well for a relaxed dine-in meal or a quick takeout stop during a busy evening around Yeonnam and Hongdae. The space has a youthful rhythm to it, and that vibe pairs naturally with the bold flavors usually associated with Thai cuisine. Every detail feels built around comfort, speed, and flavor without losing personality, which is one reason the restaurant continues attracting locals and travelers looking for something satisfying yet easygoing.

The menu style fits perfectly with diners who enjoy sharing plates and trying different flavors in one sitting. Small plates create a more social dining experience, especially for groups that want variety instead of ordering a single heavy dish. There is also a quick bite appeal here that makes the restaurant convenient for casual lunches, laid-back dinners, or even spontaneous food stops after exploring Seoul’s trendier districts. Alongside the food, the availability of alcohol and beer gives the restaurant a more relaxed evening atmosphere, turning a simple meal into something that feels more social and enjoyable without becoming overly formal.

Another thing that makes Soi Yeonnam stand out is how naturally it blends Thai dining culture with the fast-paced character of Seoul. The restaurant keeps things approachable and unfussy, which suits diners who appreciate flavorful food without long waits or overly complicated menus. Whether someone chooses to dine in and enjoy the lively setting or grab takeout for a quick meal on the go, the experience feels smooth, flavorful, and easy to revisit, especially for anyone craving Thai-inspired comfort food in Mapo-gu.

I was merely walking around the area and was hungry when I saw the line for this place. I love Thai food so I said why not try it. They have a kiosk out front where you input your phone number and it will give you a waiting number via Kakao. It went by fast, and once you order the food is served to you quickly as well. Now, the food. It was delicious. Definitely get the egg-rolls no matter what else you order. The Thai iced tea comes from a can. There are two different soups that they have. Both my girlfriend and I like the sour one more, but that's not to say that the normal beef noodle soup was bad in anyway. I will definitely be coming back to this place to try the rest of their menu.

I came at noon at the beginning of the week, there were not too many customers, the restaurant was cool, especially on a summer day. Super fast service and delicious food. The space has a Thai style but is a bit old.

Thai restaurant. They renovated a residental house into a Thai restaurant, as many new restaurants in this Yeon-nam area. Be prepared to wait up to an hour especially on weekends. After you sign up on the wailing list they will give you notification messages to your mobile. Food is quite good. They serve beef soup with three choices: thin noodle, medium noodle, and rice. Som Tam tastes freshand tasty.
